Hotel Channel Manager
channel manager administrates both "online" and "offline" sales channels and is very closely connected to the rate-plan management system to ensure that every agent uses the rates assigned to them.
Online channels are Online Travel Agents (OTAs) plus Global Distribution System (GDS) channels and "meta-search" solutions like Kayak and TripAdvisor.
Offline channels are "brick-and-mortar" travel agents with shops and offices on the street who supply reservations in the traditional way, mostly using telephone and fax.
channel manager considers both types of sales channel equally important, the only difference being that the online channels can be updated and send reservations automatically. Both are provided with the management functionality they require.

In the Sales Channel Profile section, every agent (meaning every channel) is assigned a hoteliport
rate-plan which specifies the rates to be used when an agent makes a reservation. In the profile, each is identified by company name, address and contact information for invoicing purposes.
